The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) developed 18-CARAT which stands for Compliance Assistance and Regulatory Accountability Training. On January 25, 2018, FMCSA invited Pennsylvania motorcoach operators with compliance reviews coming up within 18 months to a workshop with the goal of providing attendees the knowledge and tools to improve its company’s safety posture. Carriers learned how to prepare for, and understand what to expect during a Compliance Review Investigation, along with steps they can take to improve their safety performance.
The Workshop included very valuable handouts which can be found on PBA’s web-site in the following categories:
- Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) which was required on all motorcoaches December 18, 2017;
- Americans With Disabilities (ADA) and what FMCSA will be looking for in a motorcoach operation during a Review;
- Insurance and their relationship with CSA scores including helpful checklists, etc.
The workshop was a partnership between FMCSA Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania State Police and the Pennsylvania Bus Association.
